What is massage?
Massage is the use of hands, to manipulate the soft tissues of the body for relaxation, stimulation or rehabilitation of the whole body or part of it. It promotes circulation and reduces stress.
Beneficial effects of massage:
- Soothing: touch is known to be soothing and comforting - massage uses touch to soothe and relax the body
- Stimulating: the systems of the body are stimulated and activated by massage, therefore encourages improved circulation, aids digestion and waste removal.
- Relieving: Pain, stiffness and tenderness thoughout the body usually caused by strain are relieved. Lactic acid - removed and prevented from building up which helps muscles relax.
- Relaxing: Massage brings a sense of well-being and deep relaxation. Very beneficial for insomniacs.
